ROBERT F. Kennedy Jr (RFK) faces a brutal grilling by US lawmakers today as he battles to be confirmed as Donald Trump’s health secretary.

The Kennedy clan scion has already been branded a “predator” in a letter to senators by his own cousin on the eve of his confirmation hearing.

He is expected to be confronted over his murky personal history – which includes multiple affairs and an addiction to heroin – and controversial views on issues such as vaccination.

RFK could also be quizzed over bizarre revelations about the candidate that emerged during his failed presidential run in 2024.

He ran for president on a platform of being fitter and healthier than Trump or Joe Biden and posted videos of himself working out.

But strange revelations about his health an behaviour saw his campaign scuttled with him ultimately endorsing Trump.

They include that he has a dead worm in his brain, that he once dumped a dead bear cub in Central Park, and that he used a chainsaw to cut the head off a whale.

Doctors ultimately determined the remains of the parasite would not be harmful to him anymore – with experts telling the New York Times it was likely a pork tapeworm larva.

He subsequently posted on X: “I offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate.”

His cousin Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, has blasted him in a letter to senators ahead of Wednesday’s hearing.

She said: “It’s no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets, because Bobby himself is a predator.

“I watched his younger brothers and cousins follow him down the path of drug addiction.

“His basement, his garage, his dorm room were always the centre of the action – where drugs were available and he enjoyed showing off how he put baby chickens and mice in a blender to feed to his hawks.”

RFK’s confirmation is expected to last two days and he needs 50 Senators to vote for him.

If confirmed, RFK plans to upend US science agencies and would take the helm of a department overseeing more than 80,000 employees and a $1.7 trillion budget.

Critics have labelled him dangerously unqualified, citing his promotion of debunked claims linking measles vaccines to autism, his suggestion that HIV does not cause AIDS, his financial interests in law firms suing pharmaceutical companies, and more.

RFK and the whale

In another animal-themed incident, during a campaign speech for Trump he revealed federal officials were investigating him for beheading a whale in 1994.

His daughter first revealed what happened in a 2012 interview with Town & Country.

She said: “[He] ran down to the beach with a chainsaw, cut off the whale’s head and then bungee-corded it to the roof of the family minivan for the five-hour haul back to Mount Kisco, New York.

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet.

“We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day to day stuff for us.”

RFK has spent two decades promoting vaccine conspiracy theories, including around Covid-19 shots in the past several years — which he called the “deadliest ever made.”

He also exclusively drinks raw milk, claiming it “advances human health”.

At the same time, the former Democrat has garnered praise for his “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) agenda, which emphasises combating the nation’s chronic disease epidemic through healthier eating and prioritizing wellness.

Kennedy initially ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election, setting the campaign ablaze with a string of bizarre and headline-grabbing revelations.

He released a video admitting that, a decade earlier, he had placed a dead six-month-old bear cub in Central Park after initially planning to skin it for meat.

RFK slammed Vanity Fair after it released a photo of him that suggested he may have eaten a barbecued dog.

In the image, Kennedy is holding a large animal on a metal spit and pretends to take a bite out of its ribs.

However, he argues the image was of a goat and a veterinary expert used by the outlet got it wrong.

A government agency reportedly launched an investigation into a claim made by his daughter that Kennedy had once used a chainsaw to decapitate a dead whale.

His decision to back Trump after withdrawing from the race led to condemnation from the Kennedy clan.

Two more confirmation hearings will begin today for controversial candidates Tulsi Gabbard to become Director of National Intelligence and Trump loyalist Kash Patel to become FBI Director.
