Rishi on rack

NO amount of spin about Keir Starmer’s lacklustre image can conceal that Thursday’s by-election defeats were a double body-blow for the Tories.

Starmer won’t need much personal magnetism if anti-Tory sentiment stays strong, especially if their voters keep drifting to the Reform Party.

Rishi Sunak needs radical ideas now to make our lives better after by-election defeatsRex

That alone could doom dozens more “safe” seats.

It is not unreasonable to pitch Rishi Sunak as the “change” candidate, which is what the public is clearly crying out for.

He is not Boris, nor Liz Truss.

He has brought back sober, cerebral stability to No10.

But his big announcements, scrapping part of HS2 and reinventing A-levels, are no one’s priorities.

Those remain the cost of living, the ailing NHS and uncontrolled migration.

There are few votes in gradually lowering inflation, right though that is.

Mr Sunak simply must put more money in people’s pockets via tax cuts.

He must slash waiting lists.

He MUST get illegal migrants on planes to Rwanda, that crucial small-boats deterrent, or galvanise his party behind a huge legal fight if judges block it.

To lure back Reform voters he must maximise Brexit’s vast opportunities too.

He is decent and intelligent.

But stability is unlikely to keep him in power.

Mr Sunak needs radical ideas now to make our lives better.

Sick protests

FOR years police idly let notorious Islamist hate-mongers like Abu Hamza publicly inspire terrorism.

It must not happen again with Hamas-linked rabble-rousers.

If they glorify terror on our streets or spout hate about Jews, arrest them.

This weekend thousands will flock to their pro-Palestine protests with little or no grasp of the actual facts in Gaza.

They will vacuously demand peace from Israel, not understanding that the Hamas cut-throats only crave war.

They will insist Palestine be free “from the river to the sea”, naively thinking it a harmless call for liberation.

It is in reality a racist desire for Jews to be dispersed far from their homeland or, if Hamas had its way, exterminated.

Some DO know what it means.

Some are now so warped by hate, they consider their violent anti-Semitism a cool, edgy social media trend.

They think massacred Israelis had it coming.

They wear pictures of armed paragliders to taunt Jews, alive and dead.

We MUST stop this sickness spreading.

Muscular policing is imperative.

Class warriors

ANYTHING stopping hard-left unions closing schools with strikes is to be welcomed.

Naturally, the brothers are outraged at the Government’s order to keep a minimum service going.

Feathering their nests via blackmail will always trump kids’ education, after all.
