RISHI Sunak has launched a fierce fightback by rallying his Tory troops during a conference speech packed with major announcements.
The PM took aim at a “broken” system where politicians shirk tough decisions – and vowed to be the leader to change that.
Confronting critics, he confirmed he would axe the Manchester section of HS2 – and any further developments – instead ploughing the money into numerous transport projects.
Mr Sunak also promised that halving inflation “is the best tax cut” his Government can deliver to Brits during the Cost of Living crisis.
A blizzard of other policies – including a smoking crackdown – will lay the groundwork for next year’s general election where Mr Sunak is playing catch-up in the polls.
