LIVERPOOL legend Phil Thompson has told Roy Keane to “get a life” after the Manchester United icon called Virgil van Dijk “arrogant”.
Thompson is amazed outspoken Keano had the cheek to criticise someone else for dishing out strong opinions.

And the ex-England defender believes the pundit simply misunderstood Van Dijk‘s verdict on Liverpool’s 0-0 home draw with United.
Dutchman VVD reacted bluntly to his side failing to turn domination of chances and possession into victory on Sunday.
He said: “There was only one team trying to win the game but unfortunately it did not happen.
“We were superior in all aspects. They were hoping to hurt us on the counter and they are buzzing with a point.”
But Keane responded even more brutally.
The former midfield hardman told Sky Sports: “That’s arrogance. That’s arrogant. He said Man Utd were buzzing, only one team came to play. “
He claimed the centre-back was being “disrespectful”.
And Keane even suggested such an attitude might have cost Jurgen Klopp’s men all three points.

But Thompson told talkSPORT: “I don’t think he (Van Dijk) was arrogant, he was just giving his opinion – as Roy gives his opinion, as Gary (Neville) gives his opinion.
‘It wasn’t arrogant by any means. I would say it was more frustration.
“I really feel as though you’ve come off that game, you know you’ve dominated, Manchester United have had that one chance with [Rasmus] Hojlund, and you’ve just felt frustration. Arrogance wasn’t in it.”
Thompson, 69, who won seven top-flight titles in 13 years at Liverpool, added: “For Roy Keane to be talking about arrogance in people – come on, do me a favour.
“I love Roy but I played that back and he just kept repeating the word. Roy, just get a life.”
Van Dijk himself also insisted there was “absolutely no arrogance” in his words or thinking.
He added: “I like Roy Keane – if he said that then it’s fine.
“He is Man United throughout and I understand he could react like that, but I felt what I said.
“Everyone who watched the game probably felt the same. We move on.
“We had the opportunity and we couldn’t score and that’s the frustrating part.”
