An Su-30 fighter was immediately dispatched to prevent violation of the Russian border.

As the Russian fighter approached, foreign military aircraft made a U-turn from the state border of the Russian Federation, VK reports.

The Russian plane then returned safely to its home airfield.

No attack has been reported and there was no violation of the State Border of the Russian Federation, state the Russian Ministry of Defence.

It’s added that the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters.

This is the second time since in six months that a Russian fighter jet has been called upon to intercept British aircraft.

In September, forces tired to shoot down a British spy plane off the coast of Ukraine that was carrying 30 crew members.

The pilot of the Su-27 fighter jet fired two missiles at the British jet last September after he thought he had permission, it has emerged.

During the 90-minute interaction, one of the jets fired two missiles near the RAF plane.

The first one missed the target rather than malfunctioning – Moscow had blamed the missile launch on a “technical malfunction.”
