THE killer dad of ten-year-old Sara Sharif has had his throat slashed in prison with the jagged lid of a tuna tin.

Two inmates ambushed Urfan Sharif, 43, in his cell at tough HMP Belmarsh, South London.

He was attacked on New Year’s Day, just weeks into his life sentence for murdering innocent Sara.

Sharif was lucky to survive and remains in a bad way in the prison’s hospital, sources say.

The pair were sickened by his abuse of Sara, who was beaten, burned and bitten over two years before her death in August 2023.

They used a jagged tuna tin lid in the ambush at HMP Belmarsh, South London, on New Year’s Day — just weeks into Sharif’s life term with a minimum of 40 years.

A source said: “Urfan was sliced up badly in his cell by two others who rushed in. It was planned and they used a makeshift weapon — made from the lid of a tin of tuna.

“He was sliced in the neck and face, and is still in healthcare and in a very bad way.

“He was lucky to survive, has had to have stitches and will have scars as a permanent reminder of the attack. The guards tried to keep him safe because he obviously had a target on his back after the case was such big news.

“Something like this was always on the cards, and an attack was probably only a matter of time.

“Sharif has tried to keep his head down since coming into the jail, but word quickly got round about who he was.

“Inmates were not happy he is in there with them and, although the other prisoners are in for heinous crimes, a lot of them don’t like people who attack children.

“A lot of them are saying how it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.”

Police were called and are investigating. Category A Belmarsh houses high numbers of murderers and terrorists including Ali Harbi Ali, the killer of MP David Amess.

Other inmates include Grindr Killer Stephen Port, Night Stalker rapist Delroy Grant and Danyal Hussein, who murdered two sisters in a London park.

Sharif was jailed last month alongside Sara’s stepmum Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle Faisal Malik, 29.

Sara’s birth mother Olga Domin, 38, had lost a court battle to keep her daughter from Sharif, who had exploited EU rules to stay in the UK and hoodwinked social services.

The Old Bailey trial heard Sara suffered multiple injuries and was made to wear a hijab to cover them up — despite no other family members wearing Islamic dress.

Authorities missed at least 15 chances to get her into a safe home.

Batool often called taxi driver Sharif from work saying Sara was being naughty, knowing he would beat her.

He throttled Sara, and hit her with a cricket bat and metal pole, sometimes tying her hands and legs together with parcel tape.

Police found her body in her bunk bed at the family home in Woking, Surrey, in August 2023.

SHAMELESS IN DOCK

By Ed Southgate, In court for harrowing case

IT is hardly surprising that brute Urfan Sharif has been targeted just weeks into his life term.

The scumbag attacked daughter Sara with a cricket bat and metal pole, burnt her with an iron and strangled her. He even forced her to wear a nappy and sit in her own urine and faeces for hours.

It is thought Sharif jet-washed the ten-year-old’s body. Nothing could have prepared me for watching a father admit to the torture he put his own daughter through.

And still he could not bring himself to plead guilty to murder.

I watched as Sharif spent six days lying in the witness box. He made out he was an innocent victim of “psycho” wife Beinash Batool.

True, she is a psycho. And he is worse than a monster.

He abused three previous partners before turning his anger on his girl.

It was clear he never cared about Sara when she was alive or dead.

Now there is no one other than prison guards to look out for him.

A post-mortem examination found Sara had suffered 25 fractures and 71 external injuries including bite marks and iron burns.

Sharif left a note next to her body, which read: “Whoever see this note, it’s me Urfan Sharif who killed my daughter by beating.”

The fiend had fled to eastern Pakistan with Batool and Malik.

The trio, plus five of Sara’s siblings, were found sheltering with family and brought back to the UK after an Interpol operation.

Last month, Sharif was found guilty of murder and jailed for a minimum of 40 years.

Batool was handed a 33-year minimum term after also being found guilty of murder. Malik, who lived with the couple, was handed a 16-year jail term for causing or allowing the death of a child.

During the trial, Sharif had blamed the attacks on “evil psycho” Batool before dramatically confessing he had hit Sara with a cricket bat and a pole and ultimately killed her.

After the case, Olga branded her daughter’s killers “executioners” and said Sharif had for years manipulated police and social services.

And she said: “It took the death of my baby girl for people to realise he is evil.”

In an impact statement Olga told Sharif and Batool: “You are sadists, although even this word isn’t enough for you. I would say you are executioners.”

Sara lived with Olga from 2015 but a court hearing four years later ruled she should stay with her dad.

Olga told The Sun after the murder trial: “So many women tried but our voices were never heard because he manipulated everyone.

“I never hurt my children. He lied and lied and they handed my daughter over to her death.”

Old Bailey judge Mr Justice Cavanagh said Sara suffered “unimaginable pain, misery and anxiety” in repeated attacks leading up to her death.

Last night, the Prison Service said: “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on January 1.

“It would be inappropriate to comment while they investigate.”

A Met spokesman said cops are probing “an allegation that a prisoner was assaulted at Belmarsh”.

He added: “The 43-year-old suffered non life-threatening injuries.”

15 missed opportunities to save tragic Sara

By Ed Southgate

JANUARY 2013: Sara was made subject to a child protection plan at birth because of Urfan Sharif being accused of attacking three women including her mother, as well as hitting and biting two children.

But she was allowed to remain with her father.

FEBRUARY 22, 2013: A month after Sara was born, social services and police were told that Sharif had slapped a child around the face.

Nothing was done.

MAY 7, 2013: A social worker spotted a burn mark on a child’s leg.

Sharif failed to report the incident and claimed it was a barbecue accident. Nothing was done.

OCTOBER 7, 2013: A child was seen with a burn mark made by a domestic iron.

Sharif told social services the child had bumped into the appliance.

No action was taken.

2013 TO 2014: A child told a social worker that Sharif smashed up a TV and punched Sara’s mother Olga.

NOVEMBER 2014: Sara was taken into foster care after a child told a social worker about a bite mark.

But she later returned to live with her father following a family court hearing in October 2019 where social services recommended Sara lived with her father because that was her preference.

JANUARY 2015: Sharif was reported to social services for waving a knife around at home in what he said was a zombie game.

Social workers noted that Sharif hit and kicked Olga at home and the pair threatened to kill each other.

FEBRUARY 2015: A child told their foster carer that Sharif used to hit them on the bottom with a belt.

In September that year the child was heard to say to Sharif: “When you’re at home you hit and kick me every day.”

2015: Olga told social services about Sharif tightening a belt around her neck.

Around this time social workers complained Sharif was coercive and derogatory towards them.

A male social worker was then appointed to the family.

DECEMBER 2016: A child told a social worker they did not like Sharif because he punched them all over their body and gave them lots of bruises.

Social workers saw Sara flinch when Sharif told her off during supervised contact and seem surprised when he cuddled her.

JUNE 6, 2022: A teacher reported that Sara had a bruise under her eye, using the school’s online child protection monitoring system.

Sara initially would not say what happened, before later saying another child hit her.

But no referral was made to social services.

MARCH 10, 2023: A teacher saw bruises on Sara’s face.

Sara said she had fallen on roller skates.

When she gave a different story to a safeguarding lead, the school made a referral to social services.

Six days later social services decided to take no further action.

It is understood there had been no contact between social services and Sara’s family for four years at this point.

Social services categorised the case as the second highest priority and asked other agencies for information.

When nothing came back, the case was closed.

MARCH 20, 2023: A report was logged on the school’s internal system after Sara’s stepmother Beinash Batool was overheard referring to children as “motherf***er, sister f***er, b**** and whore” in the playground.

But no details were passed to social services.

MARCH 28, 2023: Batool claimed a mark on Sara’s face was caused by a pen.

The teacher told the school safeguarding lead.

APRIL 17, 2023: Sharif decided to home-school Sara.

School staff rang the council for advice and were told they should make a referral if there were concerns.

Staff saw Sara later that day at school pick-up and she seemed fine so they decided against it, even though she had been beaten earlier that day.

She was never seen outside the home again.
