Emergency services tried desperately to revive the victim, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed that the boy’s injuries were consistent with a stab wound.
A spokesperson for the BTP added that the victim’s family has been informed.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the stabbing which took place in East Sussex.
At the moment, the suspect is in police custody as police begin enquiries into the horrifying attack.
Now, the force is appealing to members of the public for more information about the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Stanley said: “This is a shocking incident which has resulted in the tragic loss of a young man this evening.
“The investigation remains in the early stages and the station will remain closed while we continue our enquiries in the area.
“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or the lead up to it, to get in touch as you may have vital information which could help our investigation.
“Please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 428 of 10 September.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Earlier this year, the BTP revealed that the number of sexual assaults on UK trains had skyrocketed over the last year.
The horrifying figures showed that recorded sexual assaults on public transport increased from 1,676 cases in 2023/24 to 1,799 cases in 2024/25.
Just under 40 per cent of reported incidents took place on the London Underground, with 700 sexual assaults being recorded on the Tube.
However, during 2024/25, a staggering 148 sexual assaults were recorded on Network Rail.
Ciara Bergman, CEO of Rape Crisis England & Wales, said: ”Every day, millions of people use UK railways to get to work, take their children to school, and go about their daily lives.
“It should go without saying that anyone doing so should not experience or witness sexual assault or harassment, or be in fear of this.
“And yet what these statistics illustrate, is just how prevalent sexual violence, abuse and harassment are on public transport, and that women and girls are particularly at risk.”
