Her mum Jaskirat Kaur, who also goes by the name Jasmine Kang, has been charged with murder.
An inquest heard today how the youngster died from stab wounds to the chest.
Black Country area coroner Joanne Lees said Shay was declared dead inside her home.
She added: “I am going to suspend my coronial investigation and adjourn the inquest pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.”
The horror unfolded when police were called to the home after a welfare officer was unable to get an answer.
Tributes have flooded in for the youngster, who was a pupil at Brickhouse Primary School.
The school said in a statement: “Shay was a bright, happy, fun-loving child who was well liked by all and she will be very sadly missed by everyone.
“School is the heart of the community and we have already begun working with our children and staff to support them following this devastating news.”
Shay’s godmother Kayleigh Colclough also told of her pain in a heartbreaking tribute.
She wrote: “I’ll miss you baby girl. My heart hurts.
“I’m not sure how I feel. I feel sick, numb, angry and a failure. I’m totally heartbroken.
“I’m so, so sorry baby girl. I’ll forever miss you but remember I’m bringing you justice.”
Kaur has been remanded into custody after previously appearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
No pleas have been entered and she is next due to appear for a hearing on April 22.
