It’s understood the incident happened in the coastal resort of Marmaris.

Thomas, from East Wemyss, Fife, later died surrounded by loved ones at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Monday.

The nature of the accident is not currently known.

His devastated family have paid tribute to him, saying he will be “missed more than words can ever say”.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, his father, Scott, wrote: “It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we have to share that our son Tam Murdoch passed away in the early hours of this morning, surrounded by his family following a tragic accident while on holiday in Turkey.

“Our family is devastated, and we ask for understanding and privacy as we begin to process this loss. Funeral details will be shared as soon as they’re available.

“He will be missed more than words can ever say and will be loved forever.”

His heartbroken older sister, Mandy Hagger, said: “It’s such an honour being your big sister. I’ll miss you every day.

“Forever grateful to Edinburgh Royal for the care and kindness they showed to Thomas and our family! Love you forever and always.”

A statement from his employer, Solar Dynamix, read: “It is with great sadness that we share the news of Thomas Murdoch’s passing following a tragic accident.

“Though he had only recently joined Solar Dynamix, Thomas quickly made an impression with his curiosity, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn.

“His potential and bright outlook were clear to everyone who worked with him.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this very difficult time.”

Thomas, who worked for an energy company, will be laid to rest at 11am on October 10 at MacDuff Cemetery.
