Carson, 39, collected nine honours during his time at the club, including four Premier League titles.

The former Derby and Liverpool ace was well respected at the Etihad for his efforts behind the scenes.

The four-time England international has been hailed as a “valued part” of the club’s goalkeeping unit.

Carson put in plenty of effort to help the likes of Stefan Ortega and Ederson.

He has now left, but has not gone with empty pockets, having earned around £8.5million in wages.

The staggering earnings become even more eye-watering as he only made three saves during his 107 minutes of action.

This means each stop cost the Cityzens roughly £2.8m.

Carson made two appearances for the Citizens with one coming in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

He played the full 90 minutes against Newcastle in May 2021 and conceded three goals in the 4-3 win.

He made two saves in that game but was not beaten in his 17 minutes of action against Sporting Lisbon in March 2022.

Man City confirmed his exit with a statement on social media.

It read: “After six seasons with the Club, Scott Carson will leave Manchester City when his contract expires this summer.

“We would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”

Carson started his career back in 2003 at Leeds United and went on to play for the likes of Liverpool, West Brom, Bursaspor and Wigan.
