And they stormed into a 2-0 lead before half-time thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Noni Madueke.

But the game was briefly paused late in the first half after a laser pen was shone on to the pitch.

It appeared to take aim at Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, who started the match at centre-back.

The ace was seen recoiling while running with the ball, indicating that the laser had caught his eye.

Before that, Chelsea captain Reece James was targeted while taking a free-kick for the Three Lions.

Following the Konsa incident, referee Clement Turpin halted the match before running to the touchline for a briefing with his assistant.

After a few moments, the game resumed before a stadium-wide announcement was made in Serbian.

Fans were told to stop shining laser pens at the pitch.
