Union bosses made the call on behalf of members wanting a better work-life balance, saying the move could improve productivity.

PM Rishi Sunak slapped down their demands last night, with his spokesman insisting there were no plans to grant the request.
Downing Street said: “We’re focused on making the productive best use of our time throughout all of the working week.”
Conor Holohan, from the TaxPayers’ Alliance, railed against the demand, saying: “Taxpayers are sick of seeing jumped-up bureaucrats placing their own interests above those of the country.
“Civil servants receive pay, perks and a pension that many workers can only dream of, yet some are now demanding a part-time job with full-time pay.”
