Officers scoured Cheadle town centre for two hours with the dogs, in their race to find George.

Police also reportedly entered an abandoned building in North Staffordshire as part of their investigation.

He was last spotted at 5pm on Saturday.

Now, the force is appealing to the public for help and have released a description of the youngster.

He has been described as being 5ft 11ins tall and as being of a slim build.

Authorities added that he is likely to be wearing a black leather jacket and black skinny jeans.

He is also known to carry a guitar.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We need your help in finding 17-year-old George, who has gone missing from Derbyshire.

“George was last seen at about 5pm on Saturday.

“George has links to Cheadle.

“If you’ve seen him, please do not approach him and call 999 as soon as possible quoting incident 2 of August 25.”

Staffordshire Police have been approached by The Sun for further comment.

The news comes after data from the Home Office revealed the British towns and cities with the highest crime rates.

The top two areas were both boroughs of London, with Westminster coming in first place.

The area – which is home to the Houses of Parliament – recorded 423 crimes per 1000 residents taking place each year.

Meanwhile, Camden recorded 195 crimes per 1000 residents with many of the crimes being related to pickpocketing incidents reported by tourists.

Middlesborough was the city with the highest level of crime outside of London, as it logged 158.3 crimes per 1,000 people.

That’s roughly equivalent to just under one in 6 people being victim to a crime.

A staggering 23,000 crimes were recorded in the North East city last year, which is a 5 per cent reduction from last year.
