LUCA BRECEL won the battle of the swashbuckling potters as he eliminated Jimmy White in a poor English Open encounter.
The pair are two of the most charismatic players to have ever picked up a snooker cue and are kindred spirits in terms of their approach to the game and attacking mindset.

Though there is a 33-year age gap between them, there was a lot of anticipation ahead of their first competitive meeting.
Sadly it failed to ignite as Brecel won 4-1 but perhaps the early start at the Brentwood Leisure Centre might have explained the lack of fireworks.
Brecel – the former world champion – drove through the night from Belgium in his flashy Porsche.
And he was so laidback that he snapped charging his electric car in London only 90 minutes before the clash started at 10am in the Essex town.
The Belgian, 30, dominated proceedings in the low-quality affair where the highest break was only 95 in the closing frame.
Six-time Crucible world runner-up White, 63, managed to win frame four to get himself on the scoreboard but he missed out on progression.
Brecel will now play Iranian Hossein Vafaei in the Last 64 of this ranking tournament.
He has dropped to 41st in the world ranking and is danger of losing his Tour Card next May after a strange couple of years since his 2023 World Championship win.
He has effectively had an extended break since the Crucible in April, dropping out of multiple events citing health problems.
Brecel pulled out of qualifiers for both the Wuhan and British Opens, as well as the Championship League.

And he bizarrely conceded his match after just two frames on his return last week, blaming the fact he had to borrow a cue.
Off the baize Brecel enjoys a jet-setting life and has splashed out on several supercars after his Crucible victory.
He regularly shares loved-up snaps with girlfriend Shawney Demuyter too.
