A SOLDIER died after he fell from the HGV he was driving and was run over, an inquest has heard.
Adam Brocklehurst, 27, was driving down a hill on a training exercise when he lost control.
An inquest heard that Private Brocklehurst was ejected from his HGV and was struck by the moving vehicle, causing fatal injuriesWales News Service
Coroner’s officer Lynne Carroll said: “Having been ejected he was struck by the moving vehicle, causing fatal injuries.”
A provisional cause of death was given as traumatic head injury.
Private Brocklehurst, of Salford, was based at the Infantry Training Centre at Catterick, North Yorks.
He was at Sennybridge Training Area in Powys, Mid Wales, when he died last month.
Assistant Coroner Patricia Morgan adjourned the inquest to a future date.
She said: “I have reason to suspect the death is traumatic in nature.”
The Ministry of Defence said after Adam’s death that he “quickly became a popular, valuable, and charismatic member of the troop.”
It added that he “was a mature soldier who was intelligent and never afraid to challenge the chain of command when necessary.
“He proved this by educating a young officer on a defensive exercise when he thought he knew more about driving than Adam, the true professional.”
