He is said to be living in a cottage close to a village green just outside London.

The Ministry of Justice confirmed Acourt — jailed at Westminster magistrates’ court in November — was released last month.

A source said “Acourt is very happy about having his freedom again.

“It will be sickening for Stephen’s family to know he is out and able to live a life Stephen was denied from having.”

Acourt was arrested after the racist murder of Stephen, 18, near a bus stop in Eltham, South East London, in 1993 but has never been charged.

He has long denied involvement in the killing, which led to London’s Met being accused of institutional racism.

Two men were finally jailed in 2012.

Acourt fled to Spain in 2016 as investigators closed in on a £3million drugs plot but was found and jailed for nine years in 2018.

A serious criminal behaviour order was imposed but he broke it last year by driving a van without permission.

He pleaded guilty but documents show he was jailed as he has “a flagrant disregard for court orders”.
