Sheffield Wednesday and Luton are keen but it would need a massive offer to take over the deal.

Cannon has impressed for the Potters this term with nine goals in 22 Championship appearances.

Stoke’s will to keep Cannon will only be strengthened after Sam Gallagher was pulled up in the draw against Plymouth Argyle.

The Republic of Ireland international is also key to the club’s hopes of survival.

Stoke are just two points above the relegation zone in the Championship with the threat of dropping to League One looming.

Leicester City could recall the inform striker in order to sell this month in a move to boost their budget.

This would help manager Ruud van Nistelrooy in his pursuit of strengthening the Foxes’ squad in a bid for survival.

The club are currently slumped in 19th place with just 14 points after a tough first half of the season.

The East Midlands side also face the prospect of a possible points deduction due to potential breached of profit and sustainability rules.

Van Nistelrooy has already been linked with moves to bolster his squad.

The Dutchman is lining up Manchester United stars Victor Lindelof and youngster Toby Collyer.

Lindelof’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season and could be available on a cut-price deal.

Collyer, however, is a promising talent and could make a move to the King Power Stadium on loan.
