RORY McIlroy finally got his hands on the green jacket this weekend after seeing himself to victory at the Masters.
But while it’s moments of prestige like this that really motivate the 35-year old Northern Irishman, he’s also made a handsome fortune over the course of his very illustrious career.

Current estimates put Rory’s net worth at around a whopping £225million.
According to Forbes, in 2024 he ranked as the world’s second highest-paid golfer, behind only Tiger Woods – earnings which also made him the world’s 19th biggest-earner in the world of sport overall.
Across his professional career, Rory has racked up around £80 million in PGA tour earnings alone.
And this Masters win alone will see him pocket $4.2million – although $1.2million of that will be going to the taxman.
These earnings stand in stark contrast to his upbringing. His parents took on extra jobs to fund his ambitions, his dad Gerry working 100-hour weeks while his mum Rosie took up the nightshift in a packaging factory.
Only two years after his professional debut, a 19-year-old McIlroy bought his parents a house as a sign of his gratitude.
By the time he was just 23 years old, in 2012, he became the youngest player ever to earn at least $10million on that year’s PGA tour.
In the years since, McIlroy has only seen his career go from strength to strength – and with professional success came some serious rewards.
But he’s been just as focussed off the course when it comes to putting prize money to good use.
From savvy investments to founding companies – or splashing the cash on a very impressive car collection – Rory has been building a business empire that will support him long into retirement.
Winning formula

His main experiences behind the wheel might be in a golf buggy, but that hasn’t stopped Rory enjoying life in the fast lane.
Alongside a number of other superstar investors, McIlroy took a stake in the Alpine F1 team back in 2023.
He was joined by boxing champion Anthony Joshua, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Kansas City Chiefs heavyweight Travis Kelce.
Speaking on the grid to Sky Sports F1, Rory said: “I’m really excited. It’s not something that I really envisioned myself doing, but I had this opportunity to invest with a bunch of other really cool people and sports stars.
It’s just a really cool opportunity for me to be a part of something and hopefully help in any way that I can

“It’s a great opportunity,” he added. “Alpine is a team that want to achieve big things going forward. It’s just a really cool opportunity for me to be a part of something and hopefully help in any way that I can.”
McIlroy also added that he would be trying to watch as much F1 as possible – though that the demanding schedule of the golfing season may limit how much he can follow along.

McIlroy has long had his eye on the luxury life as well.
Back in 2013, the golfer invested a chunk of his prize money earnings into luxury yacht makers Sunseeker, based on England’s south coast.
The boatbuilders are known to make some of the swankiest yachts around, having made yachts owned by the likes of Simon Cowell, John Terry, and the late Eddie Jordan.
They’d even been featured in Bond hits Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale.
And his investment paid off. Just a few years later, the firm was bought out by Chinese property firm Dalian Wanda.
McIlroy made a tidy profit of £1.65million thanks to the deal – though this pales in comparison to what he’s made from other ventures.
Inventive investor

Unsurprisingly, plenty of Rory’s other investments haven’t strayed too far from his main love.
In 2019, he founded venture capital firm Symphony Ventures along with his manager Sean O’Flaherty, with an aim to focus on investing in healthcare, sporting, and technology sectors.
The firm recently put in a $250million investment alongside Brighton Park Capital in TickPick, a rapidly growing ticket marketplace company for live events.
Back in 2021 he became part-owner of Puttery, an upmarket mini-golf chain with branches across the US.
Other golf-related companies he’s put money into include digital tee service GolfPass, the wearable fitness tech brand Whoop, and a leading designer of golf health management software.
Alongside fellow legend Tiger Woods and former NBC golf executive Mike Marley, McIlroy co-founded the company TMRW sports, a company focussed on the crossover between sport, tech, and entertainment.
One of their first ventures has been the launch of Tomorrow’s Golf League – an indoor simulator league that launched in January, and that sees teams battle it out in indoor arenas but on real grass.
“It’s golf, but it’s reimagined, sort of trying to take golf into the 21st century,” McIlroy said.
“There’s a lot of technology involved, trying to bring it into the digital era.”
Massive mansions
If he does get a chance to settle down in front of the telly, however, it’s likely that he’d be doing it from the comfort of his £17million mansion in southern Florida.
Located in the town of Jupiter, near West Palm Beach, the house was built in 2002 but purchased by McIlroy in 2012 for £7.6million – from PGA star Ernie Els.
The massive home is part of The Bear’s Club, a golf development 85 miles north of Miami that has been home to legends such as Michael Jordan, sisters Serena and Venus Williams, as well as golfers such as Luke Donald and Michelle Wie.

Spread out over 12,800 square feet, the swanky pad boasts nine bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and a huge balcony overlooking a swimming pool.
There’s also a recording studio, games room, home cinema, and six-car garage – and best of all, a golf course right next door.
Rory also reportedly owns another mansion in La Quinta, California, a New York City apartment, and a villa in the United Arab Emirates.
Before his move to Florida, the star had been living round the corner from where he grew up in County Down, Northern Ireland.
The dream property worth £2million had everything he needed for training, from an exclusive driving range to a private putting green and practice area with seven bunkers.
There were also tennis courts where he enjoyed games with his ex, former world No.1 tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
I asked if he ever hangs out in London…he said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m building a house out there’
JJ Spaun
But it’s not looking like he’ll be stateside forever. Rory has been developing a luxury mansion in the UK, at the prestigious Wentworth Golf Club just outside of London, as revealed by American golfer JJ Spaun.
“We were talking about the UK,” Spaun said on a podcast. “I know he’s Northern Irish, but I asked if he ever hangs out in London, because my wife has got a really good friend that lives out there and loves going there.
“He said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m building a house out there’.”
And on Netflix’s series Full Swing, McIlroy said that while his wife, Erica, didn’t want to move to England straight away, she “definitely wants to spend more time there”.
In January this year, it was revealed that the golfer had locked horns with the local council over plans to upgrade his Wentworth mansion with a brand new heated pool.
Ferrari fanatic
But it’s not just houses he’s splashed the cash on.
If the fact he invested in an F1 wasn’t enough of a clue, McIlroy is a huge car fan, with a collection worth a reported £900,000.

The centrepiece of his collection is the impressive Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, worth an estimated £240,000.
Also sat in (one of) his garages is another Ferrari – the F430 – and a Lamborghini Aventador, which is worth £270,000.
He also reportedly owns an Aston Martin DB11, worth an estimated £160,000.
And there’s no queuing up in security for McIlroy when he’s travelling between his homes on opposite sides of an ocean.
In late 2024, the star bought a multi-million-dollar Gulfstream private jet for $38.5million.

Jon Rahm – $218million
Rory McIlroy – $83million

Scottie Scheffler – $61million
Cameron Smith – $47million
Bryson DeChambeau – $44million

Phil Mickelson – $38million
Dustin Johnson – $37million
The luxurious jets can sit up to 19 passengers, and features plush sofas and living areas where leg room is guaranteed.
Now he’s achieved his Grand Slam, expect Rory to be paying even more attention to how he uses his money to cement himself as a leader in the world of sport for decades to come.
