WILLIE MULLINS’ ‘super talented’ racehorse It’s For Me has sadly died after suffering a fatal injury at Leopardstown.

The news of the six-year-old gelding’s passing was confirmed by co-owner Simon Munir.

It’s For Me had been sent off 11-8 favourite for the beginners chase at the Irish track.

But he was pulled up after the second fence after going into the lead under jockey Daryl Jacob.

A post on X from Munir read: “Sadly It’s For Me suffered a fatal injury this afternoon at Leopardstown, he was a super talented horse and will be sorely missed by everyone!”

It’s For Me won on his rules debut, hacking up by ten lengths in a Navan bumper in January last year.

He was sent off 6-1 for the Champion Bumper but finished fifth behind A Dream To Share, filling the same spot behind the same winner when he next races at Punchestown in April last year.

It’s For Me had a lengthy break before making a winning hurdles debut in November last year, beating the highly regarded Caldwell Potter.

And he was considered a top prospect for a career over fences before having his life tragically cut short.

The sad death comes during a difficult Christmas period for Mullins, with a number of his horses running below par.

Lossiemouth was beaten by Constitution Hill on his return from a year off in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

While the previously unstoppable Ballyburn was absolutely stuffed by Sir Gino in the Wayward Lad at the same track.

Punters were quick to offer their condolences to Munir and co-owner Isaac Souede.

One wrote: “So sorry, Simon. Was worried when I saw him being taken out of the race so quickly. Sorry for your loss.”

While another said: “How terribly sad, poor It’s For Me. So sorry for your loss, he was a great talent.”
