An oil and gas helicopter has also joined the search effort for the missing person.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard is coordinating the response after receiving a report of a bodyboarder possibly being in difficulty off Fraserburgh.
“Fraserburgh and Peterhead coastguard rescue teams and Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat have both been sent along with a HM Coastguard helicopter and a helicopter from the oil and gas industry.
“Police Scotland are also in attendance.
“The search is ongoing and we have no further information.”
It comes as Scotland was battered by snow, monstrous winds and torrential rain during Storm Gerrit.
A number of train services were cancelled with others facing major delays.
Motorists also faced chaos with overblown trees, flooding and horror driving conditions all affecting the roads.
A major incident was declared on the A9 as “miles of vehicles” were left stranded in blizzard conditions.
