Hodgkinson has enjoyed a remarkable year both on and off the track.

She won Olympic gold in the 800 metres in Paris, before scooping the coveted BBC gong just before Christmas.

Hodgkinson took to Instagram on Monday to give fans a sneak peek into her birthday celebrations.

The Leicester-born star posted a throwback snap of her as a baby in 2002.

And she delighted fans by showing that despite her growing fame, she remains down to Earth with her choice of cake.

She captioned the pics: “Never too old for a Colin.”

Hodgkinson turned heads over the weekend after rocking a stunning red carpet look at the Brit Awards.

The runner risked a wardrobe malfunction by going braless for the event at London’s O2.

She dazzled in two-tone black and white dress, which was cut off at the side to show some sideboob.

The Team GB star is currently sidelined from competing after suffering a hamstring injury.

Hodkinson is now a doubt for the remainder of the indoor season

And the injury scuppered her chances of breaking a longstanding world record.

Team GB’s golden girl planned to run the quickest time over 800 metres indoors at her inaugural Keely Klassic earlier this month.

Speaking on the injury, Hodgkinson revealed that she shed a tear upon finding out the news.

She said: “I’m so gutted and disappointed to be announcing this. I’m devastated to be missing the launch of the first Keely Klassic.

“Me and my team worked so hard these last couple of months to put me in a perfect position to race, and I was so excited to perform in front of a home crowd.

“I won’t lie – when I got the news this afternoon, I shed a tear.

“I’ve worked so hard for this moment and was in the best shape of my life. I’m absolutely gutted that I won’t be able to race for the fans.

“Especially after so many have bought tickets to see me try and break the world record.”
