THE top class festive racing keeps coming.

So our tipping meastro, Templegate is here with his Placepot tips for the card at Newbury this afternoon.

Find The Sun’s betting publishing principles here

The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.

You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it’s 2x2x2x1x2x2 which adds up to 32 lines.

You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line which would cost a total of £1.60. 10p a line is £3.20 and so on. Provided at least one in each race is placed, we get a payout!

And don’t forget to claim your £40 bonus when you stake £10 as a new customer with Tote HERE*.

Newbury Placepot tips – Saturday, December 28

LEG 1: Break My Soul, Panic Attack

BREAK MY SOUL has looked a little rusty on both starts this season but had some useful form last year and can go close for Nicky Henderson.

PANIC ATTACK won this race back in 2020 and was a good third on his hurdling comeback at Ludlow last time out.

LEG 2: La Marquise

LA MARQUISE looked a class act when winning at Ludlow on hurdles debut. That built nicely on her classy bumper form and there’s more to come.

LEG 3: The Famous Five, Skycutter

THE FAMOUS FIVE took well to chasing when third at Windsor 13 days ago. Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch have a cracking record over fences and can bag another win.

SKYCUTTER got the job done nicely at Warwick last time and has scope for further improvement.

LEG 4: Mr Hope Street, Rightsotom

MR HOPE STREET was impressive at Warwick when making it four runs from his past five starts. He tanked along there and had lots left crossing the line. He’s up 8lb but should be capable of defying that.

RIGHTSOTOM was sixth in the 2023 Triumph Hurdle and had seven lengths in hand when scoring at Doncaster last month. He jumped particularly well and is another who could outrun a rise in the weights.

LEG 5: Henry’s Friend, Hoe Joly Smoke

HENRY’S FRIEND ran a cracker when fifth in the Coral Hennessy here last time and was a Grade 2 winner as a novice. He has lots of staying power and looks on a fair weight. There’s more to come from Ben Pauling’s seven-year-old.

HOE JOLY SMOKE was impressive at Sandown earlier this month and will have no problem with the slightly longer trip. It’s still early days for him over fences.

LEG 6: Regent’s Stroll, The New Lion

Paul Nicholls has won the past four runnings of this Grade 1 and can make it five with REGENT’S STROLL. He won a hot bumper here in March and kicked off his hurdling career with a classy nine-length victory over two miles here. He made just one mistake there and looks open to lots of improvement for the step up in trip.

THE NEW LION looks the chief threat after his course and distance success last month. Harry Skelton just had to push him out and there was lots left in the tank.
