SANDOWN PARK hosts a top quality jumps meeting on Saturday as the older horses are thrust into the limelight on Veterans’ Chase Day.

Tipping guru Templegate has worked through the card to pick out his Placepot selections for the meeting to help YOU to a slice of the £100,000 guarantee!

Find The Sun’s betting publishing principles here

The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.

You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it’s 2x2x2x1x2x2 which adds up to 32 lines.

You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line which would cost a total of £1.60. 10p a line is £3.20 and so on. Provided at least one in each race is placed, we get a payout!

And don’t forget to claim your £40 bonus when you stake £10 as a new customer with Tote HERE*.

Sandown Placepot tips – Saturday, January 4

LEG 1: Juby Ball

JUBY BALL has looked good in a couple of bumpers, including when second here last time. He should make a nice hurdler.

LEG 2: Beat Box, Ostrava Du Berlais

BEAT BOX just keeps on winning and had 16 lengths in hand at Kelso last time. He’ll be hard to stop again.

OSTRAVA DU BERLAIS has scored nicely at Taunton and Ludlow and can figure in this stronger company.

LEG 3: Cast’s Tasha, Doddiethegreat

CAST’S TASHA was a good second here last time and will be happy if the forecast rain arrives.

DODDIETHEGREAT was hampered at the start at Kempton on Boxing Day and is brought back quickly by Nicky Henderson.

LEG 4: Jupiter Du Gite, Hunter Legend

JUPITER DU GITE went too hard from the front when a fair third around here last time. That was over three miles and he just ran of petrol in the closing stages after travelling well enough. That makes it a wise move by Josh and Gary Moore to drop him back in trip here and the testing ground is right up his street.

HUNTER LEGEND got the job done nicely in soft ground at Leicester just a week ago. He goes up in grade slightly but likes this trip and will certainly handle conditions.

LEG 5: Georgi Girl, Aston Martini

GEORGI GIRL was bang in the running for a hot handicap at Cheltenham last time only to be run out of it in the closing stages. Her best efforts have come in these more testing conditions and she doesn’t lack for staying power. She’ll need to improve again to score but is only six and the Hobbs and White horses are in fine form.

ASTON MARTINI has not matched last season’s form yet but is well capable of figuring in this company.

LEG 6: Copperhead, Eldorado Allen

COPPERHEAD loves these veterans’ races with two wins and a close second at Cheltenham from his three starts at this level. It was dropping to 2m4f that caught him out last time so he did well to go so close after being outpaced. He’s back over his ideal distance today.

Fellow Tizzard runner ELDORADO ALLEN hasn’t won for almost three years but he was high-class on his day and was just behind the tip last time. He’s another who will prefer this trip.
