Video footage shows the commotion on the Russian flight when the man was held down by crew and passengers two hours after takeoff from Bangkok.
As a meal was served on the flight, the man named Alexey Fursov, 35, who has dual Russian and Australian citizenship, allegedly took his fork and stabbed a fellow passenger, Andrey.
He “pierced the victim in the chest, shoulder and back” in the frenzied attack, according to Russian police.
And he allegedly called out “One hit, four holes,” referring to each jab made with the fork.
Onlooking passengers said he also had a knife up his sleeve and sharp scissors.
The “wild” Fursov was subdued by quick-thinking fellow travellers, and tied with restraints.
He was led to the back row of economy class.
His legs were tied and he was told to “hop, hop, hop” down the Boeing 777’s aisle.
He was bound and forced to lie across three seats and male passengers took it in turn to act as sky-high warders.
“After he was tied up, for the rest of the flight he was guarded by passengers in hour-long shifts as he kicked and tried to free himself,” reported Moskva24.
A woman passenger said he told her he had a wife and son in Australia and had not been back to Russia for four years.
Fursov told the crew that he thought the passenger next to him was going to bite him.
He reportedly said: “So I got my fork ready, then he twitched again, I just stood him up and…
“I decided to poke him, and then you came at me.
“ I thought I’d just poke him and he’d disappear.”
As he was led to his back row seat he said of the man he attacked: “I thought he was gonna die.”
The man needed first aid given by the crew and Fursov was held by Russian police on arrival in Moscow.
