GARY LINEKER believes Marcus Rashford will be a success at Barcelona because “there is something wrong” at Manchester United.

Rashford is on the verge of joining the Spanish champions on a season-long loan.

The former Barca star explained why the winger will do well at the Nou CampGetty

It will be the second loan spell for the England international, following a successful stint at Aston Villa.

Lineker has been impressed by his displays over the last six months and he expects him to raise his game by playing with better players.

The former Barca star tipped Rashford to do well, suggesting many players do when they leave Old Trafford.

He told Sky Sports: “I suspect Marcus will do well.

“What’s happened to the players who have left Manchester? The players who have left are pushing hard, they’ve done incredibly well everywhere.

“So there’s something wrong with United at the moment, and the players who have left have generally been successful.

“Rashford seems to be arriving in the right frame of mind, this is a great challenge for him.

“He’s going to a place with brilliant players where it would be difficult to play regularly, but there are a lot of games, and even though Barça has three forwards like Raphinha, Lewandowski and Yamal, you can’t expect to play every game from start to finish.

“It’s a good signing for Barcelona. If Marcus arrives at his best, it’s incredible. He was already fantastic at Aston Villa and he can do so at Barcelona. I hope that’s the case.”

Rashford flew to Barcelona on Sunday but his signing is still yet to be announced.

He underwent a medical on Monday and is expected to be officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday – with a video appearing to show plans for his big presentation leaked online.

But Rashford still faces uncertainty over whether he can actually play for the Catalans due to Barca’s ongoing registration issues.

The LaLiga giants are currently not able to register Rashford and will need to flog players to free up space.
