According to ABC7, Authorities were alerted to the incident after a man called 911 saying that someone had been shot inside the home.

When police and first responders arrived they found four adult victims, a mother, 53, two daughters, 24, and a daughter, 23, dead after having sustained gunshot wounds.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office was eventually called to the scene and is examining the dead whose names have yet to be released.

While little is known about the details of the case, the children’s father is in custody after a weapon was recovered at the scene.

It is unclear at this time if the initial call to authorities was placed by the suspect or another party.

Pat Carr, Manager of Tinley Park Village, where the crime occurred, spoke to reporters to ensure the safety of other residents.

“This was isolated to the home,” Carr said.

“The scene is secure. There is only one suspect at this time.”

Tinley Park Police Chief Tom Tilton confirmed in a press conference later on Sunday afternoon that there is no remaining threat to the public.

The official charges against the man in custody are still pending.

Residents in the neighborhood are heartbroken following the tragedy.

Neighbors have reported that seven in total lived in the home, a husband, wife, their two adult sons and three grown daughters.

“My daughter knows them,” resident Charlotte Vaitkus said.

“She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters. She always talked about how they were all very intelligent, and they had very high goals in life.”

Carr said that this incident is trying for the community after five women were killed in 2008 at a Lane Bryant store in the village.

“This stirs a lot of emotions for people,” he said.

“It brings back a lot of bad memories for a lot of us who have been around here,” he told the press.
