Tragedy as binman in his 20s killed in crash ‘involving team’s refuse lorry’ with witnesses urged to come forward

A BINMAN in his twenties has died after a crash involving his own team’s lorry, cops have said.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Torquay, Devon, shortly before 1pm on Tuesday.

A white bin lorry and a member of crew are said to have been involved in the incident.

A man in his 20s was reported to have dead at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: “Emergency services were called at 12:43pm on Tuesday 27 May to a collision on Higher Warberry Road, involving a white bin lorry and a member of the crew.

“A local man in his 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His next of kin have been made aware.”

The Health and Safety Executive have also been informed about the incident.

The police are appealing for witnesses with any further information into the incident.
