Two teen boys, 16, killed on railway track as cops probe tragic deaths

TWO teenage boys have been killed on a train line – as police probe the tragedy.

Emergency services raced to Poynton Station, Cheshire just before 10.30pm on July 3.

The 16-year-old boys were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Services were shut off to allow medics to reach the teenagers.

It affected services including Avanti West Coast, Cross Country and Northern services until around 6am today.

The incident is being investigated by British Transport Police, although the deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at around 10.10pm last night (3 July) to reports of a casualty on the tracks near Poynton railway station.

“Officers attended with paramedics. Very sadly and despite the best efforts of paramedics two people were both pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
