THE Met Office has revealed where torrential rain will hit Brits this weekend after snow flurries.

It comes after the country was battered by a deluge of downpours over recent days.

Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir said that Saturday’s weather could be another washout for many.

Heavy rain is forecast across Scotland and Northern Ireland which are the worst affected regions.

The band of rain will slowly move in an easterly direction as Brits wake up across the UK.

But the weather front will “weaken” as it moves, according to the Met Office.

Showers are still expected in the far North of England, North West Wales and Southern Scotland on Saturday afternoon.

Today’s weather will see most of the UK enjoy a dry day with decent spells of sunshine, according to the Met Office.

However, the far east and southeast of England will be breezy and rather cloudy for a time with a few showers.

And scattered showers will also affect northwestern areas.

But it will be a “cold night” on Thursday, said Clare Nasir.

It comes after there was some snowfall earlier this week in Northern Ireland and light hill snow across the northern Pennines.

Looking ahead, London is predicted to experience temperatures in double digits every day from Thursday, said forecasters.

A high of 12C is predicted for next Tuesday, the Met Office said.

Meanwhile, winds of more than 50mph may hit northern regions of Scotland over the weekend and into Tuesday and Wednesday.

Some snow may fall on mountains next Wednesday evening and on higher ground on Thursday morning, mostly in the Highlands and areas above 250m.

Jonathan Vautrey, a meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “In the weekend and the start of next week, we will start to see weather fronts pushing in from the North West.

“Whilst high pressure is going to be situated to the southeast of the UK, the main area of low pressure will essentially be pushing towards Iceland.

“Trailing frontal systems from that low pressure in Iceland are going to brush past Northern Ireland and Scotland as we head into the start of next week.

“This will set up a North West to South East split across the UK.”
