THE MET OFFICE has warned an inch of snow will hit parts of Britain today – as ice sparks travel chaos in a -6C freeze.
A yellow warning for ice and wintry showers came into force for Kent, London, Surrey and Sussex at 4am this morning.

Ice and snow will cause delays on the roads and railways, with pedestrians and cyclists also urged to watch their step.
A heavy snow flurry of up to 3cm could fall over the north Downs and on grassy patches.
Temperatures are forecast to stay below freezing point across much of the UK today.
The mercury dropped to -6C in northern Scotland at 5am this morning.
The early morning fog will clear by midday, making for a mix of cloud and sunny spells this afternoon.
Three westbound lanes are currently shut on the M62 near Rochdale following a crash on the motorway.
Wintry showers will push westwards across the south tonight, with a hard frost expected elsewhere.
In Scotland the night will be cold with patches of freezing fog.
Tomorrow morning will see the odd shower in the south west and north east.
The rest of the UK will be cold and dry with some sunny spells and brisk winds.
Later this week the weather will be dry and clear, with temperatures below average.
Forecasters said that northern parts could see some wintry rain and drizzle.
