THE Met Office has warned of snow today as heavy rain sparks dozens of flood warnings – but sunshine is just days away.

It will be mild and cloudy for many Brits today, with patches of rain and a chance of hill snow in southern Scotland.

Eastern England will enjoy a few brighter spells in between outbreaks of drizzle.

Rain clouds will push into northern Scotland tonight, but it will be “exceptionally mild” in England and Wales.

Tomorrow will also be cloudy for much of the country, with some heavy rain in the west.

The Environment Agency has issued 24 “expected” flood warnings and 156 “possible” flood alerts across England.

Floods are expected along the lower River Severn overnight, the agency said.

There is also a chance of flooding at high tide along the coast in northern England.

But some parts of the south east could be blessed with sunny spells.

The weather will turn drier and brighter on Friday, staying mild for this time of year.

Forecasters said this weekend will see “bright and sunny spells” across much of the UK.

Most Brits will enjoy clear skies, mild conditions and even some warm sunshine.

Cloud and drizzle are expected to return to the south sometime next week – but northerners will still bask in fresh winter sun.
