Williams spent five years at United and made 51 first-team appearances before being released in 2024.
He has been without a club since then, with his only other senior appearances coming on loan at Norwich and Ipswich.
The left-back is bidding to make his return to football following the conclusion of his trial for dangerous driving.
In May, Williams, 24, was given a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after driving at speeds of up to 99mph.
He was also found to be driving without insurance and has been ordered to carry out 180 hours of community service.
Williams has spoken about the “dark” times he has been through since his release.
He revealed he has even struggled to watch football.
He said: “My friends were worried about me, Angel Gomes, Jimmy [James] Garner, and D’Mani Mellor.
