Conners is believed to have sustained the injury during the third round.

The issue is said to have occurred as Conners attempted to play a bunker shot on the 11th hole.

Following the incident, Conners tried to play through the pain.

He received treatment on the course and managed to get through to the end of yesterday’s play.

The world No21 had his wrist taped and considered coming out to continue today.

But following a brief warm-up, Conners decided to pull out.

He had been due to start at 10:20am EST alongside Ryan Fox.

Prior to withdrawing, Conners had been 38th in the standings.
