BILL TURNER is aiming to upset the apple cart once again in a Doncaster he’s called his own.

The British Flat season kicks off on Saturday at Doncaster with the feature racing being the valuable Lincoln handicap.

Most eyes will be on one of the biggest betting races of the season, but it’s worth taking a peek at the Brocklesby Stakes too.

Although it’s not the curtain raiser like usual, the Brocklesby is a fiercely competitive 5f novice with £20,000 for the winner.

You’d expect the big guns to dominate such a race, but it’s actually the Devon-based Bill Turner who has become synonymous with the race.

Turner has won the race SEVEN times, most recently with Mick’s Yer Man in 2013.

It’s certainly been a while between drinks but you can never rule out Turner in this race.

This year he saddles 50-1 outsider Bob The Bandit, a son of Aclaim who has some speed in his pedigree.

On paper, there is no real standout in this year’s Brocklesby – and no form to go off either.

Jason Hart is an excellent choice jockey wise and it would be foolish to dismiss his outsider.

The favourite will almost certainly be Amo Racing’s Mystical Elegance, who cost £45,000 and is bred to be as speedy as can be.

Dominic Ffrench Davis is very adept at getting his horses ready first time up and is likely to be the one to beat.
