He appears to have finally got up to speed however and his pressing stood out against the Greek side.
Gyokeres popped up all over the pitch and his hard running helped pressure the opposition and create chances for his team-mates.
However a number of opportunities came his way and he failed to take advantage.
One powerful run saw him latch onto the end of Martin Odegaard‘s pass and he did well to shrug off two defenders to create a shooting chance.
But he shot straight at the keeper and fortunately Gabriel Martinelli was on hand to tap in the rebound.
Later in the first half another clever run saw him again fed by Odegaard, but his touch let him down and he was unable to get a clear shot away.
Moments later he did find space and time in the box to work the ball onto his favoured right foot, but lacked composure and blazed over the bar.

The Swede has three goals but only scored in two of his nine matches so far, and is yet to display the clinical finishing ability which saw him rack up 54 goals for Sporting last season.
But there are signs of his link-up play improving and his dirty work is helping to create chances for him and his team-mates.
Gyokeres is still finding his feet but an improvement in his fitness is yielding results – his touch match shows he had an impact all over the pitch, not just the final third.
