WAYNE Rooney dressed up as Queen’s Freddie Mercury at a fancy dress bash to mark his 40th — and belted out hits by the band.

The England legend wore tight blue jeans, a white T-shirt, sunglasses, black leather cap and matching fingerless gloves — all typical of the frontman.

It was part of surprise weekend celebrations organised by Coleen, 39, for music-mad Wayne, whose milestone birthday is on October 24.

She arranged for helicopters to whisk them and pals to a luxury lakeside estate in the Cotswolds.

A source told The Sun: “Everyone knows Wayne really loves singing but he was in his element as Freddie Mercury.

“He looked the part and blasted out some of Queen’s best known tunes.”

Mum-of-four Coleen took advantage of the international football break as it meant no Match of the Day pundit duties for Wazza.

Last month, he said his loyal wife had saved his life by preventing him from becoming an alcoholic.

In a podcast interview, emotional Wayne said: “I honestly believe if she weren’t there, I’d be dead.”
