But fans are playing their part in celebrations in the city of jazz, with some bright colors coming from the crowd.

You would not be surprised to learn that the Super Bowl organisers have come up with an ingenious way of generating a spectacular light show in the Super Dome.

Fans have been given light-up wristbands, that have LED lights inside that coordinate and synchronize to the music in the stadium.

Before kick-off, a heartfelt piano ballad was played by Lady Gaga in tribute to those who died in the New Orleans terrorist attacks in January.
