What happens if two teams finish level on points?

Points total is what usually splits the teams, but if they finish level, then goal difference will determine who goes through.

This has already been seen, as Atletico Madrid BEAT Botafogo 1-0 during the final group stage clash, leaving both sides on six poins.

The Brazilian side had a better goal difference, and as a result, went through.

But – if the two teams are level on points and goals scored, then it will come down to head-to-head.

Head-to-head means that if two teams are level, whoever won between the two sides will go through.

Group G may need another factor to decide who wins the group, as ahead of their clash, Man City and Juventus both have six points and eight goal difference.

If the sides were to draw the clash, it would go to goals scored, where Juventus currently lead 9-8.
