Some of the finest elite racers will be in action, with the belief amongst many that this is the strongest lineup ever created.

Those include Alex Yee, Team GB’s Paris 2024 medal winner, who will make his marathon debut.
Aswell as Eliud Kipchoge, the world’s greatest distance runner, will compete in the London Marathon for the first time since 2020 as he eyes a record-extending fifth title.

The Chicago Marathon has both of the current official world record marathon timings. Nonetheless, London is no stranger to quick finish times.
The London Marathon has seen the marathon world record smashed seven times.
On the elite men’s side, the late Kelvin Kiptum owns the London Marathon course record. In 2023, he ran a 2:01:25 and then established a world record of 2:00:35 in Chicago.

Many people predicted that he would be the first runner to run in less than two hours in an officially acknowledged race. But, regrettably, Kiptum died in a traffic accident in February 2024.
A lot of eyes will be on Jacob Kiplimo as he prepares to run this year.
In February, he broke the world record for the half marathon with a time of 56:42. However, London will be his first attempt at the 26.2-mile race, so it remains to be seen if he can maintain the pace for the entire marathon.
