Who is Lucy Kenwright?

Lucy Kenwright is the only daughter of Bill Kenwright and his former partner Virginia Stride.

Like her parents, Lucy ventured into the world of entertainment, carving her own path in the industry.

As a Producer and Director, she has created TV content for a wide spectrum of genres.

Her projects include live chat shows, archive documentaries, presenter-history series, and charity appeal films.

Who is Lucy Kenwright’s mother Virginia Stride?

Virginia Thomas, professionally known as Virginia Stride, is a British actress born in 1936.

She first came to public attention on television in the 1960s.

She was the first wife of the actor John Stride from 1936–2018, whom she met when they were studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

Her best-known role was probably as the “seductive” Liz Champion in Champion House.

She also had roles in Out of the World (1962), Public Eye (1966), The Baron, Callan (1972), The Expert (1976), Target (1978) and A Touch of Spice (1989), amongst others.

Her films include I Want What I Want (1972), based on Geoff Brown’s novel of 1966 about transsexualism.

Virginia has three daughters, Philippa and Lindsay, by her first husband John.

She had Lucy from a subsequent relationship with the producer and football chairman Bill Kenwright.

Not much is known about Bill and Virginia’s relationship as the star kept his private life out of the spotlight.

He previously told the LiverpoolECHO: “There are very, very few people who know me, because I am incredibly, incredibly quiet and private.

“People don’t understand this about me because I will shout my productions to the rooftops and I love talking about Everton Football Club.”

He added: “If you knew how many requests I get every week – to make documentaries, to write my biography and so on. But I turn them all down.”

When did Bill Kenwright die?

On October 24, 2023, it was announced that Bill had passed away at the age of 78.

He was one of the UK’s most successful theatre producers.

His production of Blood Brothers ran in the West End for over 24 years.

He first joined the Everton board in 1989 and was the chairman for nearly 20 years.

On October 12, 2023, it was revealed that he had a cancerous tumour removed from his liver.

The operation was carried out following a diagnosis at the beginning of August and was “successful”, but he spent some time in intensive care.

His condition appeared to have improved and he was able to return home to continue his recovery.
