Chris Dobey was born on May 31, 1990, in Bedlington, England.
His family were passionate about darts, with Chris learning about the sport from his dad and uncle.
Although Chris went into traffic management, he soon found his way back to his family’s beloved activity.
In 2010, he started playing darts at a local club and quickly earned the nickname Hollywood, on account of his baseball cap.
In the past, the star has opened up about the difficulties of balancing his work with his love for darts.
He said: “Before the Grand Slam in November 2016, I finished work to concentrate on the TV competitions and I’m just doing darts now.

“I worked in traffic management, putting the cones out on motorways around the north-east.
“We would do 12-hour shifts, say 6pm to 6am.
You would do that for a couple of weeks and then change shifts.
“It was messing with my darts too much, so I just had to give in in the end.
“People would give you grief with the cones but it was our job, we cannot do anything else.
“One of my friends got cans of pop and apples thrown at him or Pot Noodles, something like that. It is a tough job.”
Chris’ incredible career
The star had his first major TV appearance in 2015, when he took part in the UK Open.
Although he was knocked out in the first round, Chris made waves in the darts scene because of his rapid rise to a professional level.
Chris now regularly competes at Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events and holds five PDC titles (as of February 2025).
He won the PDC World Masters 2023 after a nail-biting match against Rob Cross, who is ranked fourth in the world for darts (as of February 2025).
The star is currently playing in the Premier League Darts which started in February.
