Who is opera singer Christopher Macchio?
Christopher Macchio is a tenor born in Long Island, New York, on August 1, 1978.
He is one third of the acclaimed opera super group The New York Tenors, appearing alongside Andy Cooney and Daniel Rodriguez.
He started singing when his teacher noticed his talent and encouraged him to pursue music as a career.
Christopher signed with EMI records in 2010 and released his first album, Dolci Momenti, a year later.
Macchio announced on X that he had accepted an offer to sing at Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025.
He said: “It is with deep humility and gratitude that I have accepted President Donald J. Trump’s gracious invitation to perform our national anthem at the inauguration of our 47th president.”
Trump said that he was encouraged to listen to Macchio’s music by his brother Robert, who died in 2020.
Christopher also performed at Robert’s memorial service which was held at The White House during Trump’s first presidency.
Macchio later described performing for Trump’s family as one of the greatest honors of his life.
He said on his YouTube channel: “I started to sing, and the whole First Family turned around and stood single file at attention and just looked up at the balcony, or the patio as they call it.
“And I sang for 15, 20 minutes with the First Family just looking up and appreciating what it was that I was delivering to them and the country at large.”
More recently, Macchio performed at the fireworks display on January 18, ahead of Trump’s final rally before being sworn in as President.
Who else is performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration?
Macchio won’t be the only big music star performing at Trump’s inauguration.

The Village People’s 1978 hit Y.M.C.A. is a personal favourite of Trump’s and has been regularly used at his campaign events.
Country legend and fellow Trump favourite Lee Greenwood is set to perform classic hit God Bless The USA, which is a staple of Republican party events since its release in 1984.
