Who is TJ Holmes?

Born on August 19, 1977, Loutelious Holmes Jr. is famously known as broadcast journalist TJ Holmes.

Originally from West Memphis, Arkansas, the nickname TJ was coined by his family during his formative years.

Following his graduation from the University of Arkansas, he got his first job as a weekend anchor at KSNF in Missouri.

He also went on to work for other stations such as the CBS affiliate KTHV and NBC’s San Francisco affiliate KNTV.

In October 2006, TJ began to reach national audiences when he was brought on as a correspondent for CNN.

While working for CNN, he anchored segments related to the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster, the 2008 Presidential Election, and the Virginia Tech shooting.

On December 7, 2011, TJ announced his departure from the network.

From October 2012 to March 2013, he hosted the BET late-night show Don’t Sleep.

After his exit from BET and a brief return to CNN, he started reporting for ABC News on September 26, 2014.

When did TJ join GMA?

On September 21, 2020, ABC announced TJ as one of GMA’s new co-anchors after six years of reporting for the network.

He led the show’s third hour and it’s What You Need to Know segment with Amy Robach and Jennifer Ashton.

At the time, network executives said in a statement: “We think the combination of Amy, TJ, and Jen is an unmatched team in daytime television at a time when viewers are hungry for straightforward news and information.”

Why did TJ leave GMA?

On January 27, 2023, both TJ and his co-anchor Amy Robach’s employment were terminated from GMA due to the scandal surrounding their extra-marital relationships with one another.

In a statement, an ABC spokesperson revealed: “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and TJ Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News.

“We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”

On November 30, 2022, TJ and Amy’s romance became public when the Daily Mail published photos of the two holding hands and exchanging affection.

At the time, both broadcasters were married; TJ to Marilee Fiebig and Amy to Andrew Shue.

On October 11, 2023, TJ and Marilee’s divorce was finalized.

The former couple share one daughter named Sabine.

The news personality also has an older daughter, Brianna, and an older son, Jaiden.
