Who is Owen Farrell’s mother, Colleen Farrell?

Colleen Farrell is the mum of England rugby captain Owen Farrell.

She gave birth to her son just weeks before her seventeenth birthday after meeting Owen’s dad Andy when they were just 14.

The pair used to babysit together and soon stepped up when Owen arrived in September 1991.

Owen was destined to be a rugby star just like his dad who was a former rugby league and rugby union player himself.

He has been head coach of the Ireland national team since 2019.

When did Andy Farrell and Colleen Farrell get married and how many children do they have?

Colleen and Andy tied the knot in 1995, four years after Owen was born.

On his birth certificate, Owen took his mum’s last name O’Loughlin at birth but this changed a year after the wedding.

Andy and Colleen are also parents to daughters Gracie and Elleshia and son Gabriel Farrell.

What has Owen Farrell said about his mother?

Due to Owen playing for England and Andy coaching Ireland, it can be awkward when the two teams go head to head.

Owen has insisted in the past that the father and son duo don’t mind when this happens but it can be hard for other family members to choose who to support.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Owen said Colleen “doesn’t know what she wants to happen” when the situation arises.

He said: “It’s not weird for us two It’s probably a bit more weird for the family that’s supporting, especially my mum.

“She says she doesn’t know what she wants to happen. It’s probably a bit tough for her – well, I know it is.”

But Owen insisted that due to the pair not going head to head on the field, that it isn’t that bad for them.

He added: “But in terms of us, we’re just doing our job. He’s not out there on the field, it’s not direct competition.

“We’ve been doing it for a long time now. It’s not the first time we’ve done it.”
