WHAT is going on in this country?
When baying mobs in central London are shouting: “Kill the Jews,” nothing happens.

Yet when women were peacefully demonstrating at a vigil following the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard in 2021, they were arrested.
Wayne Couzens used his Met Police badge to abduct, rape and murder Sarah.
It is beyond belief that officers from the very same force could even think about arresting women taking part in that demonstration on the pretext of Covid restrictions.
Yet jihadists are permitted to call for the destruction of a nation that was founded in the wake of the greatest act of genocide across Europe within living memory.
The pro-Palestinian demo in London showed how so many people — including police and other public servants — seem not to understand the dangerous elements involved in this movement.
On Saturday, as hundreds of demonstrators travelled on a packed Tube towards the march, the driver started a chant over the speaker system of Free, Free (Palestine), to which the rowdy crowd joined in.
I would not wish for that train driver — who was suspended yesterday — to be sacked, but I certainly would want him to be given a stern warning about whipping up a potentially volatile crowd.
Some pro-Palestinian activists refuse to accept that what Hamas did on October 7 was an abomination, they seem to consider it “chickens coming home to roost”.
The London protest was organised by Islamic fundamentalist group Hizb ut-Tahrir. In 2005, after bombings in London, the BBC described its website as promoting “racism and anti-Semitic hatred”.
The group refers to suicide bombers as “martyrs” and has urged “Muslims to kill Jewish people”.
As 100,000 people marched through the streets of London, chants of “jihad” and calls for Muslim armies to move against Israel could be heard.
One man — dressed in black and waving a black and white Shahada flag while shouting “God’s curse be upon the Jews” — was caught on film and posted on X (formerly Twitter), as was another man shouting “Hamas” through a megaphone.
Huge public outcry
It is disgraceful that the Metropolitan Police failed to intervene, settling for a statement on social media saying it had not “identified any offences”, but would have a word with the men involved in order to “discourage” such chanting in the future.
Following a huge public outcry which prompted ministerial pressure, police have now made an arrest. What took them so long?
Our police are supposed to be apolitical and not align to any particular cause.
Yet Sussex Police recently announced: “During significant days in the Trans community calendar we fly the trans flag at police premises across Sussex, including Brighton Police Station and at our headquarters in Lewes.”
Would they make a similar statement on International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women? Of course not. Whether they are pandering to political Islamists or transgender activists, decisions about who to arrest seem to be made on the basis of ideology.
For example, Christian evangelist Dave McConnell, who regularly preaches in the streets of Leeds, was arrested in 2021 for referring to a trans woman (biological male) as a man. When members of the public started shouting at McConnell in complaint, police turned up.
As chants of “Hate speech, hate speech” grew, one member of the crowd shouted at McConnell: “Turn that cross upside down and shove it up your f***ing a**e.”
Found guilty of a “homophobic hate crime”, McConnell was sentenced to a 12-month community order and fined £620. The sentence was quashed on appeal.
Then there is the case of Maya Forstater, who lost her job after she tweeted that it is not possible to change biological sex, and for “misgendering” a man who identified as “non-binary” by referring to him as “he” and not “they”. She was later awarded £100,000 for unfair dismissal.
Another example of police prejudice is the case of the autistic 16-year-old girl in West Yorkshire who was arrested after saying that a female officer “looked like her lesbian Nana”.
Despite the fact the girl’s grandmother is a lesbian, she was accused of perpetrating a homophobic hate crime.
This was considered so serious that seven officers stormed into her home and dragged her away to the station.
Police need to get on with policing actual hate crime and to keep people safe from attack.
Jews born and living in this country have absolutely nothing to do with the actions of a government in the Middle East, so they should feel as safe in their communities as anyone else.
Chanting support for a terror group is illegal, no matter how strongly we support every innocent citizen suffering and caught up in atrocities around the world.
It is time police stopped worrying about “misgendering” and “hurt feelings” and instead got back to doing what we pay them for.
