THE International Darts Open will take place this week, but with one notable absence.

Last year, home favourite Martin Schindler beat Gerwyn Price 8-5 to claim his first senior PDC title.

The German will attempt to defend his crown in Riesa, but will face some fierce competition from the likes of Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.

Teenage sensation Luke Littler will not feature in the 48-player field this week as he misses a second European Tour event in as many weeks.

Why is Luke Littler not playing in the International Darts Open 2025?

Luke Littler has opted not to play in the International Darts Open this year.

It comes after the world champion chose to skip the European Darts Trophy last month.

The teenage sensation has played in just one European Tour event this year, the Belgian Open, which he won.

While there isn’t an official reason behind the Nuke’s absence in Riesa, it could be due to his hectic schedule, as the 18-year-old wonderkid needs to be selective in the events he competes in.

Littler played in Leicester on Monday and Tuesday (Players Championship 9 & 10) and in Berlin on Thursday night (Premier League Darts), meaning the International Darts Open would have been his fourth tournament in just one week.
