COPS have arrested a suspect after a woman was found stabbed to death in a suburban street.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene in Croydon, South London, today.
The cops said an investigation is now underway
Emergency services rushed to a residential street in Ash Tree Way at 4pm on Sunday, October, 29 after the victim’s body was found.
The Metropolitan Police said: “A 19-year-old woman was found suffering stab injuries and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
“The woman is believed to be an Indian national who is thought to have arrived in the United Kingdom relatively recently.”
Officers said they are working to trace and inform her family members.
A murder investigation has now been launched with a 23-year-old man taken on suspicion of murder.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital suffering a minor head injury.
Cops claimed the man and woman knew each other and “nobody else is sought in connection with the murder investigation” at this stage.
They are now seeking any information from witnesses that may help the case.
“Anyone with information that may assist the investigation, including anyone who saw or heard a disturbance on Sunday afternoon at the address in Ash Tree Way, is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 4546/29oct,” the police said.
