THE body of a woman who was tragically found at the bottom of cliffs in Cornwall has been identified.
Emergency services were called to the coastal area of Porthtowan at 2.55pm on Saturday, February 8.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the body was recovered to the beach by lifeboat.
Officers believed the body was that of a woman aged in her 20s from the Truro area.
It has since been confirmed that Milana Thijssen, aged 20, and from Truro, was found dead at the scene.
An inquest has been opened by Cornwall’s Coroners Office and will be held at a later date.
Investigating officers were appealing for anyone who saw a female at the cliffs in Porthtowan between Friday February 7 and Saturday February 8 to come forward.
The body was spotted by onlookers who alerted authorities at 2.55pm.
Both the Coastguard and ambulance services rushed to the scene.
Cops said she had not yet been identified, describing her as slim and white with dark hair.
She was dressed entirely in black, including her shoes, and wearing trousers, a top and a lightweight coat with a red handbag.
Her death was being treated as “unexplained” but was “not believed to be suspicious”
Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers were called at 2.55pm on Saturday 8 February following reports of a body being located at the bottom of cliffs in Porthtowan.
“The ambulance service and Coastguard were both also called.
“The body was recovered to the beach by lifeboat.
“The body is believed to be that of a woman in her 20s from the Truro area.
“Formal identification has yet to take place.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.
“Anybody who witnessed a female at the cliffs in Porthtowan between the afternoon of Friday 7 February and the afternoon of Saturday 8 February is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250033859.
“The female in question was described as being a white female, appearing to be in her late teens/early 20s, of slim build, with dark hair and wearing black shoes, black trousers, a black top and a lightweight black coat.
“She was carrying a red handbag.”
