Police have launched a murder probe after the grim discovery.

Flowers were left outside the end terrace property in Batley where the 21-year-old was found.

Courtney, one of three sisters, was called a “a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul” after being named on Facebook.

Other tributes read: “Forever 21” and “rest in peace angel”.

While The Fox and Hounds pub, in Batley, said Courtney was a member of staff.

A spokesperson added: “We are heartbroken to hear the devastating news about Courtney,” the pub’s Facebook page said.

“Though she was only with us at The Fox for a short while, she left a lasting impression – sweet, kind, and always with a warm smile.”

Courtney was found after officers raced to a supermarket in Deswbury on Sunday following reports of an armed robbery at the store.

While arresting a man in connection to the raid, he reportedly told them a woman he believed was dead was inside a property in Batley.

Officers scrambled to the address and discovered the body of a woman believed to be in her 20s.

However, formal identification is yet to take place.

The 37-year-old man, who was arrested shortly before in connection with the robbery, was then arrested on suspicion of murder.

West Yorkshire Police is now frantically probing the death, and previously warned that two other people, a man and woman, “may have come to harm.”

However, the force today said this information was “inaccurate”.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates said: “This is clearly a very serious incident, where a young woman has lost her life.

“There is a heightened police presence in Dewsbury today as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“A murder investigation is underway [but] we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public at this time.”

Police have asked for anyone with information to assist as well as CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage.
