Woman, 36, found dead as cops launch urgent murder investigation after man spotted ‘attempting to force entry’

A WOMAN has been found dead in a flat, after a man was spotted “attempting to force entry”.

The 36-year-old had sustained a head injury at the property in Hammersmith, west London last night.

Cops rushed to to the house shortly after 10pm, and forced entry – but the victim was sadly already dead.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

The Met Police has now issued an urgent appeal for further information.

Detective Chief Inspector, Ollie Stride who is leading the investigation, said: “We are saddened to hear about the loss of this young woman and are working to ensure that her family are informed and supported by specialist officers as soon as possible.

“I understand the impact this incident will have had on neighbours and the community and we are doing everything we can to investigate the circumstances.

“Although we have made an arrest, we still need to have an understanding of what took place last night in Coulter Road.”

The force added that a post-mortem examination is set to place in due course.
